Workshops

Workshops will happen in a free-spirited way: work on pieces to be fire during the event, discuss techniques, start visiting exchanges ideas and so on.

Yet, there will be a few activities that are already planned:

Art Presentation: "Present your work"

  • By: Everyone who bring their pieces, so far: Dave Zdrazil, Duncan Shearer, Charade Honey, Joy Bridy, Philippe Langlois, Michael Maguire.
  • You can bring either pictures or pieces to be presented.
  • We have already information about participants from New Zealand and France who will bring their work.

Technical Workshop: "What's the best way to make your grog?"

  • By: Everyone, free discussion
  • Contest for the best technique!
  • This fun-centered workshop will deal with simple and silly stuff but which indeed can be very helpful when woodfiring.
  • Think of it as a "tips and tricks" workshop.

Technical Workshop: "Clay extraction: Where to look? What to use? How to dig? How to test?"

  • by Philippe Langlois
  • This workshop will show various material found in the area, their different uses, and discuss about various practice in the different countries represented.
  • We will see how some materials readily available can help making pieces for woodfiring.

Technical Workshop: "Working with sculptural special clay"

  • Tentative, By: Mr Baillet
  • We are getting clay samples from Baillet and possibly other manufacturers which enables very special treatments.
  • In this workshop, we'll try out these clay which will be later fired in the woodfired kiln.

NEW: Technical Workshop: "Digging your own clay to prepare woodfiring slips"

  • By: Dave Zdrazil and Micheal Maguire
  • Discussion about making slips for woodfiring from raw materials found in nature.

Accomodation

There will be plenty of space available in Saint Eloy for those who decide to do camping. Also, bed and breakfast places are available in numerous places around the two locations.

I'm making a list of places to stay (bed & breakfast here). For these places, you'll need to get a car as they are not really close. (For the strong and daring souls, the place in Vasselay can be accessed from the workshop site with a 20mn walk).
